Description

Create professional custom DTF transfers for clothing, workwear, merchandise and personalised garments.

Our transfers are printed in full colour and supplied ready to heat press. Upload one design or combine multiple logos, names and graphics using our 60 cm wide rolling gang sheet builder.

There are no fixed sheet lengths. Your canvas becomes longer as you add artwork, and the price updates according to the print space used.

Pay Only for the Print Space You Use

Our DTF gang sheet builder uses a 60 cm wide rolling canvas.

Pricing begins at £1 and automatically increases according to the length of canvas required for your designs.

The rolling canvas allows you to:

  • Order one small transfer
  • Add multiple copies of the same design
  • Combine several different designs
  • Mix front, back and sleeve print sizes
  • Arrange artwork to reduce unused space
  • Create gang sheets for bulk garment printing
  • Pay only for the print area you use

Check the final canvas length, artwork sizes and total price before adding the gang sheet to your basket.

Suitable for Clothing and Fabric

Custom DTF transfers can be applied to many common garment fabrics, including:

  • Cotton
  • Polyester
  • Cotton and polyester blends
  • Hoodies
  • Sweatshirts
  • T shirts
  • Polo shirts
  • Workwear
  • Tote bags
  • Aprons
  • Sportswear
  • Hi vis garments

Fabric coatings, garment treatments and heat sensitivity can vary. Check the garment care label and test press when working with an unfamiliar material.

DTF transfers are intended for fabric. For cups, glass, acrylic and other smooth hard surfaces, use our custom UV DTF transfers instead.

Build Your Own DTF Gang Sheet

Use our online gang sheet builder to prepare your print order.

The builder allows you to:

  1. Upload your transparent background artwork.
  2. Set the required width or height.
  3. Add multiple copies of each design.
  4. Upload several different designs.
  5. Arrange the artwork within the 60 cm wide canvas.
  6. Check the sizes, quantities and spacing.
  7. Add the completed gang sheet to your basket.

The canvas length automatically adjusts as artwork is added.

Leave enough space between separate designs so they can be cut apart easily before pressing.

Artwork Requirements

For the best print quality, please upload:

  • Transparent background PNG files
  • High resolution artwork
  • Images prepared at the required print size
  • Artwork at approximately 300 DPI where possible
  • Designs with clean, smooth edges
  • Text that remains readable at the selected size
  • Artwork with all unwanted backgrounds removed

Please do not upload:

  • Screenshots
  • Blurred or pixelated images
  • White background boxes
  • Unwanted shadows or borders
  • Registration marks
  • Cutting guides
  • Clipping masks
  • Hidden artwork or overlapping layers
  • Images copied from social media

White parts of your design will be printed using white ink. The surrounding background must still be transparent.

We print directly from the artwork supplied through the builder. Check the spelling, dimensions, resolution, colours and background before placing your order.

No Cutting or Weeding Required

DTF transfers arrive printed, powdered and ready to heat press.

You do not need to:

  • Weed vinyl
  • Layer separate colours
  • Add transfer tape
  • Use a cutting machine
  • Prepare individual colour separations

Cut each transfer apart from the printed gang sheet before placing it onto the garment.

Recommended Pressing Instructions

These instructions are a starting point and may require adjustment depending on the garment and heat press.

Temperature: 150°C
Time: 10 seconds
Pressure: Firm
Peel: Hot peel

Application Guide

  1. Place the garment flat on the heat press.
  2. Pre press for a few seconds to remove moisture and creases.
  3. Position the DTF transfer with the printed design facing the garment.
  4. Cover if required by your heat press setup.
  5. Press at 150°C for 10 seconds using firm, even pressure.
  6. Open the press and peel the film while hot.
  7. Check that the complete design has transferred correctly.

For additional protection and a more finished feel, cover the transferred design with parchment paper or a suitable finishing sheet and repress.

Because heat presses and garments vary, testing is recommended before completing a full production run.

Washing and Garment Care

For longer lasting results:

  • Allow the transfer to settle before washing
  • Turn the garment inside out
  • Wash at a low temperature
  • Use a gentle washing cycle
  • Avoid bleach and harsh stain removers
  • Do not dry clean
  • Avoid ironing directly over the transfer
  • Air dry where possible

When ironing is required, turn the garment inside out or place a protective sheet between the iron and the design.

The life of the transfer will depend on correct pressing, garment material, washing conditions and regular wear.

Ideal for Businesses and Crafters

Custom DTF transfers are suitable for:

  • Clothing businesses
  • Workwear suppliers
  • Personalised gift makers
  • Sports clubs
  • Schools and nurseries
  • Community groups
  • Event merchandise
  • Hen and stag clothing
  • Charity clothing
  • Small businesses
  • Craft businesses
  • Print resellers

You can combine different customer orders, garment sizes and logo placements within the same rolling canvas.

Colour Information

Printed colours may appear slightly different from the colours displayed on a phone, tablet or computer screen.

Screens display colour using light, while DTF transfers are physically printed using ink. Exact screen to print colour matching cannot be guaranteed.

For business branding where colour accuracy is especially important, supply suitable print ready artwork and contact The Prestwick Printhouse before ordering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a DTF transfer?

DTF stands for Direct to Film. Artwork is printed onto a specialist film, coated with adhesive powder and supplied ready to heat press onto a suitable garment.

How wide is the rolling canvas?

The DTF rolling canvas is 60 cm wide. Its length automatically increases as you add and arrange your designs.

How is the price calculated?

The total is calculated according to the length of the 60 cm wide canvas used. Pricing starts from £1 and updates automatically within the builder.

Do I need to order a fixed size gang sheet?

No. The builder uses a rolling canvas, so you only pay for the print space required by your artwork.

Can I add several designs to one gang sheet?

Yes. You can combine different designs, quantities and print sizes within one rolling canvas.

Does my artwork need a transparent background?

Yes. Transparent background PNG files are recommended. Any unwanted background left in the artwork may be printed.

Do I need to add cutlines?

No. Cutlines are not required for DTF transfers. Leave enough space between designs so they can be cut apart before pressing.

Do I need to mirror my artwork?

Upload the artwork in its normal readable direction unless the gang sheet builder specifically shows otherwise. The artwork will be prepared for transfer printing.

Do I need a cutting machine?

No. A cutting machine is not required. Simply cut the individual transfers apart from the printed gang sheet.

Do I need to weed the designs?

No. DTF transfers arrive ready to press with no weeding required.

What temperature should I use?

The recommended starting point is 150°C for 10 seconds using firm pressure.

Is the transfer hot peel?

Yes. Peel the carrier film while hot after pressing.

Can DTF transfers be used on polyester?

Yes, they can be used on many polyester garments. However, heat sensitive fabrics and dye migration may require testing or adjusted press settings.

Can I use DTF transfers on waterproof clothing?

Some coated and waterproof garments may resist the adhesive or be damaged by heat. Test the material before completing a full order.

Can I use a household iron?

Yes it can but we recommend cold peeling. A proper heat press is strongly recommended because it provides consistent temperature and pressure across the complete design.

Do you apply the transfers to clothing?

This listing is for ready to press transfers. Customers requiring finished printed clothing should use our custom clothing and workwear service.
